NOTES
My inspirations for this artwork called the Blind Portrait was the personal preferences of the anonymous person I got. She particularly liked the band called Deftone and nature. So I incorporated that into my artwork by creating a botanical art piece of a dead leaf. This resembles the detail and darkness that is not seen from afar. The median I used for this art piece was Ink and the stippling. I first started my piece by tracing the leaf out with pencil, and then going over with thin ink pens with three layers. I intended for the audience to understand that the leaf artwork is simple on the outer part. However the leaf takes up the whole paper and is the overall detail that needs to be represented. Some decisions I had to make when creating this artwork was figuring out what shape I wanted the leaf, how big I wanted the leaf, and how to shade my leaf. Unfortunately the shading was a bit of a difficulty that I encountered. This is due to not placing shade into the correct spots for the leaf. I worked through this problem by turning my leaf a different way. This gave the leaf a better look where the light is upon the leaf. If I could redo my mistake I would, and search up a reference beforehand. Lastly, the research I made within this project was the bands that my person favored and listening to lyrics and gaining her vibe. This ultimately lead to my research of different leaves to draw. Overall, this project was a challenge but this leads to growth and willingness to improve.

My three art pieces so far are an ink piece called "The Side Piece", a acrylic painting called "Uterus as Still Life", and finally a watercolor painting called "The Drowning Dominance." With my SI being "How can I illustrate political views of feminism through illustrations of nature?" Some ways I showed experimentation through my artwork was using paper to practice on with watercolor, which was a fail and I ended up having to restart my piece. However the results ended with me using actual watercolor paper to get my art piece done. To add, I also used practice watercolor pencils and charcoal to see which medium I favored. With my acrylic painting I used fake blood to add to my art piece and ended up having to use red acrylic paint on the brown bowl instead because it wouldn't show up on the canvas. I also had to buy another papaya to use the seeds because the first one didn't have any big and shiny seeds that I wanted. To add, I also had to redo my peaches within the bowl because the colors weren't the right color at first.
Some ways that my SI expresses my unique experiences and ideas is by creatively thinking of how women in general are seen as someone who can be controlled whether it is in a job industry, relationship, or everyday experiences.
My work shows my skillful processes by trying things out and fixing any problems that may occur. This includes my process with the seeds, blood, watercolor, and ink.
The biggest challenges that I have faced so far in AP Art is time managing each project, finding the right medium, and making sure to do work out of school. My plan for next semester to overcome my obstacles is by making sure I know what projects I will create, what mediums to use, and finally taking more progress photos. Overall my time management has affected my progress because I didn't get to present both of my art pieces due to not finishing one of them. I did get great feedback from my classmates that helped efficiently get my art piece where I wanted it to be.
My next art pieces will include:
1. A man inside a Venus Flytrap
2. A woman being wrapped around a snake to protect her
3. Any something with lions
