AP ART
Here is some of the work throughout my year as a junior.

01
BLIND PROJECT
This is called the "Blind Project" due to receiving an anonymous individual's personality, opinions, and relatively interesting ideas. My person has a very dark, naturalist, detailed, and caring ideology. My idea was to incorporate nature into my project so I chose a singular leaf. The idea in my art was that botanical art really shows the comprehensive and precise details up close which additionally relates to my person and their personality that can't be seen by one glance. I made this project by first drawing out leaves that I liked. Then picking one that spoke to me and I started tracing my pencil with micro pigment ink. Additionally I used stippling to show how intense the artwork can be. As well as incorporating that as my persons intensive personality. Overall I am comfortable with how the art turned out. One thing I wish to do better at is making the shadows more precise and make sure I know where to add the shadows next time.

02
THE SIDE PIECE
As a first piece of art I went the route to incorporate feminism and detailed art that represents women who are viewed as objects or something to be used for. The overall purpose of this is to move people into acknowledging how women are treated by men. This is shown with an illustration of a man who can be seen as rich with a black coat, martini, and tall stance of an unseen ego. To add, the woman is crouched and shows a very vulnerable and ashamed physique that signifies she is treated as an object or "side piece." The overall detail within the woman and her body is represented by wood, as she is a "side piece" table in a metaphorical sense. This artwork is all made out of ink pens and gives a very solemn and melancholy vibe that connects to the overall purpose of feminism within the world we live in.

03
UTERUS AS STILL LIFE
Women have gone through many trouble in today's society including rape, illegal laws of abortion, harassment and many other explicit affairs. To represent how women do not deserve such unspeakable treatment, I created an acrylic still life painting. Now my route was to go outside my comfort zone and express my opinion of what feminism stands for. Doing so, I have a Papaya as my incorporation to nature which represents a woman's reproductive organ. It is supposed to illustrate how a woman is just "bleeding out" with a society that just seemingly doesn't care. To make it look more dimensional, I added actual Papaya seeds to the painting and used mod-podge gloss to shine it up. Overall I love how the painting came out and this project helped me learn how to blend, make mistakes, fix the mistakes, and try new things. I hope individuals, especially women can take something out of this painting, which represents how women shouldn't have to suffer through dominating factors like an object as such.

04
THE DROWNING DOMINANCE
For this project I decided to connect to nature by researching "what animals have a dominant nature?" One that caught my eye was Mallard Ducks. It is said that a male mallard will drown the female mallard before intimacy to assert dominance. This illustration I created with watercolor and ink pens is to show how a general female mallard has been overcome with conformed submission. The relates to society by conveying how women are sexually harassed and cannot defensively fight back and the only thing left to do in such circumstances is to obey. Women around the world have been sexually abused and I want to represent in a nature situation on how the abuse is initiated in a sense. Overall this project was a great idea for my Inquiry, however the operation was not fully successful. Due to limited time I had to quickly commence with finishing my project so it didn't turn out how well I wanted it to. One thing I learned from this experience was how to blend colors, make whimsical features, and time management in a short amount of time. The message is clear and represents what I want it to so I hope others get the message as well.

05
The Collector
Something important I learned while constructing my art piece called "The Collector" is that the inspirational name for "The Venus Flytrap" is after the goddess, Venus. She was known for her attractive nature, beauty, and alluring presence. It embraces my idea that flies are attracted to the beauty that the Venus Flytrap plant withholds, so why can't men? Which leads me to my explanation on why I have illustrated a Venus Flytrap that has captured a man within its trap and gruesome bones left behind by the traps other victims. This is to symbolize the power of feminism and how many women have been mistreated in the work industry. While producing this illustration I wanted to incorporate charcoal to give it an eerie/dark look, so I added charcoal all throughout the background to resemble a spotlight. To add, Venus flytraps are known for their vibrant beauty, so to ensure that the plant would standout I used prisma pencils to color the plant, hand, and skulls at the bottom.
Overall I enjoyed the process of this art piece and the message I wanted to represent. Women are an important part of this economy and shouldn't be pushed around and not given opportunities like men have been given.
The Venus Flytrap gives the representation that women will "consume" what misogynistic power that is in the work industry.
